BTC acquires best-blu and SEC BTC customers benefit from the strategic acquisition of BPA specialist best-blu and the additional SAP IS-U consultants from SEC.

On September 25, 2018, BTC Business Technology Consulting AG acquired the consulting firm best-blu consulting with energy GmbH from Salzgitter and the SAP service provider in the energy sector Selecta Energy Consulting GmbH from Kelkheim.
“With best-blu, BTC is gaining one of the most relevant consulting firms in Germany in the field of business process automation and workload automation,” explains Dr. Jörg Ritter, CEO of BTC AG. In view of the increasingly complex IT infrastructures in companies, it is becoming more and more important to automate the control of the IT backbone. Only on the basis of a functioning and automated control system, known as business process automation (BPA), can it be ensured that business processes such as electricity billing or tariff changes run smoothly and without problems. “Digitalization in the industries addressed by BTC, with their multi-layered IT landscapes, is inconceivable without automation,” emphasizes Dr. Jörg Ritter.
“For us, business process automation stands for the networking, automation, monitoring, and orchestration of highly complex IT processes,” adds Christian Rothberger, Managing Director of best-blu. “With our in-depth expertise in BPA and as one of the few CA Automic Premium Partners in Germany, we can strengthen BTC's portfolio in a unique way.” BTC's outsourcing and cloud customers will benefit in particular from the acquisition of best-blu. BITS, BTC's data center and IT services subsidiary, has already been working with the BPA experts from Salzgitter. best-blu has also developed the interface between the CA Automic solution and the SAP system, which is becoming increasingly important for the energy industry. The best4automic toolbox from best-blu currently has a unique selling point in the market. The second BTC acquisition is the “sister” company of best-blu. SEC Selecta Energy Consulting GmbH from Kelkheim is a classic SAP consulting firm that focuses on the SAP solution IS-U in the energy sector and strengthens BTC's consulting resources in this field.
Both companies will continue to operate under their existing names and with their existing customer bases. Dirk Thole, BTC board member responsible for finance and human resources, emphasizes that the employees of both consulting firms will remain in their familiar environments and provide support for BTC projects as needed. The previous managing directors of both companies, Rüdiger Schreiber (SEC) and Christian Rothberger (best-blu), will retain operational management. BTC will appoint Detlef Bartetzko as an additional managing director of the BPA division. SEC will also be managed by Andreas Kerker.
The parties have agreed not to disclose the amount of the transaction.
